About:

With the release of Les Grognards the iNWC is proud to offer a Tournament designed solely for Les Grognards! It is meant to utilize the game to its fullest and offer a team spirited play in both the game and in the Tourney for which there will be a Grand Strategic play as well.

Format:

The Tourney will go for the better half of the year. The Campaign runs for a set period, August 1, 1805 - December 30, 1805 giving 20 weekly turns. At the end the battles won and lost plus points are added up and a winner and loser are announced. A team may win on one front and lose on the other. The teams will have 3 players per side Austria Danube front, Austria Italy front and Russians vs. French Grand Armee, French Allies and the Armee of Italy. Below is a short example of the general flow of the Tourney.

Rules:

MOVEMENT -

Austrians and Russians may move 1 area per weekly turn.

Austrians and Russians may move 2 area's per weekly turn if they have a depot in the same area at the start of their weekly turn.

The French and their Allies may move 1 area per weekly turn.

The French and their Allies may move 3 area's per weekly turn if they have a depot in the same area at the start of their weekly turn.

An independent Corps made up of Cavalry and Horse Artillery may only move 2 area's per weekly turn.

Depots do not assist a Cavalry Corps in movement unless it is with a Infantry Corps.

eg;  French Cavalry Corps with a French Infantry Corps and starting movement in a area with a Depot may move 3 area's.

** For the turn to begin the players must provide a march order to the game Administrator.

A sample of this march order is -

II Cavalry Corps screens IV Infantry Corps as it moves from Linz to Munich .

V Infantry Corps followed by VII Infantry Corps moves from Linz to Munich

** If more Corps are involved and they are in a Army a march order is still required.

A sample of  this march order is -

Armee of the Rhine

II Cavalry Corps screens the Army

IV Infantry Corps - Advance Guard

V Infantry Corps -

III Infantry Corps -

VII Infantry Corps -

VI Reserve Cavalry Corps - Rear Guard

PRE-COMBAT ORDERS -

These orders define the initial actions of the players units prior to the battles being fought with the Les Grognards game.

The Administrator uses these orders to design the combat encounter between the opposing players.

Probe - Used to send a Cavalry Corps to scout a area, the Cavalry Corps will attempt to discover what is in a area and report their findings. If discovered by a superior force they will withdraw from the area.

Delay - Used by a Corps or Army to delay the enemy in an area. This could lead to a rear guard action.

Defend - Concentrates the players units in a defensive location.

Attack - Concentrates the players units in a position to launch a possible attack.

Right outflank\Left outflank - Allows a player to define outflanking units within an Army. This could lead to a Corps arriving or beginning a battle on your enemies flank. In a worst case scenario your flank unit may miss the battle totally by being, brought to battle before reaching the main army, lost or late.

Withdraw - A player retreats his forces from the confrontation.

eg;

Armee of the Rhine

II Cavalry Corps -

IV Infantry Corps -

V Infantry Corps - left outflank

III Infantry Corps -

VII Infantry Corps -

VI Reserve Cavalry Corps -

DEPOTS - BUILDING AND DEMOLISHING -

Depots are used to provide the players troops with supplies. By not having to forage the troops have a faster movement rate. ( see movement)

Each Army may have 1 depot only.

Austria - Army on the Italian front, Army on the Danube front and the Russian Army.

French - Grand Armee, Armee of Italia and French Allies.

It takes 2 weekly turns to build a depot.

It takes 1 weekly turns to demolish a depot.

It takes 0 weekly turns to burn a depot, only possible if just captured.

A depot may be captured, when this happens it operates as the new owner's depot. The previous owner may begin to build another next weekly turn. The new owner of the captured depot may burn it right away (no 1 week wait) or demolish the old one to use the newly captured one.

OOB's -

Each team of players will receive a master OOB for their side to work with.

From the listed units they are to construct their military, for deployment to the different fronts.

MAPS -

A political map showing the countries is provided for planning. Click here to view it.

A movement map is provided for planning. Click here to view it.

The combat maps will be generated by the Administrator.

SITUATION REPORTS OF THE CAMPAIGN -

The situation reports are issued weekly by the Administrator and include the following -

Rumours - these can provide snippets of information about your enemy, such as location, strength etc.

Gossip - another source of information, perhaps some of it is of importance... or not.

Spy Reports - a more trustworthy source of information than Rumours and Gossip, but there are so few spies and so much to see.

Cavalry Probes - Information your cavalry probes have uncovered.

Diplomats - In need of a political view of the situation.

Traveling Merchants - a source of information from the coin counting brotherhood…..where are the grain wagons in demand? These guys may know a few things.

THE GENEVA CONVENTION - The Newspaper for the Aspiring Field Marshal -

Articles from the paper will be found on the club site and will provide a way for the club members and guests to track the progress of your Campaign.

Current moves will not be included in the Articles.

You may get interviewed on the battlefield, you may be misquoted but remember the media never lies and is the font of truth.

THE BATTLES -

The Combat maps will be married to the OOB by the Administrator when the time comes for the CLASH OF ARMS !!!

He then informs the players by issuing a situation report.

The Armies meet in a real time PvP battle...( takes about 3 hours to resolve for a full day battle ). So some battles may be shorter and some longer. Battles could be Corps vs. Corps or even Army vs. Corps ( delaying action ).

Multiple battles can take place weekly and if its a big week of battles we just put the next week turn off until we're ready.

There is a points system in LG that calculates the winner and loser so there is a result.

LAST SAY SO -

The Administrator will not play in a game he is running for the enjoyment of others.

The players are urged to be considerate and fair to their team mates and any disputes can be referred to the Administrator who has the last say on things if agreement cannot be reached. Please remember this is a game and it is meant to be enjoyable to those playing.
